Fail Small, Succeed Big

The Wicked Problem
MAKING FAILURE AS POWERFUL A LEARNING MODE AS SUCCESS
In 2013, the New Media Consortium issued a Communique highlighting challenges for education. Among those challenges was the wicked problem of allowing failure to be as powerful a learning mode as success. While failure is often embraced by innovators as part of the road toward success, the field of education lags behind in its ability to integrate failure into the culture of the classroom.
The academic think tank at Fail Small, Succeed Big places an emphasis on every aspect of student growth and development. We take advantage of the natural curiosity children possess through recognizing that small failures lead to enduring understanding and learning. Our general philosophy includes embracing failure as a path toward student success. We recognize the ability in all children to succeed, and work to celebrate the possibilities inherent in failure.
Failure is an important aspect of learning, but it can be difficult to integrate into classrooms. Let's review what a sample of teachers thought about failure in their own classrooms by CLICKING HERE.
